Hey guys,
Because i'm really considering continuing in the world of visual effects and maybe gamedevelopment, am I thinking of bying a new computer, but I don't wich I have to choose: Mac or Pc.
I heard Mac was a really good system especially for things like visual effects etc. (3ds max, aftereffects, Maya and stuff like that). Can anyone tell me why? And also except for the price why would a windows system be a better choice (also except for the fact that windows has more games to play).
Thanks Nanno

Mac, dos not work @ all whit 3Ds Max, Maya, and any other brand from Autodesk (XSI and some others), go to a wharehouse, by every componend seperate, and put XP Pro X64 on it . More people use windows so there are more fixes know, and indeed games =)

I guess i'll just wait for windows 7 (isn't that going to be better than windos xp pro ?), cause I really like to work with 3ds max and probably maya.
So yes, thanks for the quick reply...

You can always install now the trail of Windows 7, do know some software is not yet fully supported (games that use punkbuster). also vista as a trail is a option. Depending on youre system specs/

The comp that i'm using now is not really good. Is there any risk of installing an unsupported system?

Well, thats not good, even for games of these games, the minium for Vista 1.5 Gig of ram, so 7 will be around 1 gig (Aro theme etc). And single core, yes you can use it on max and maya but when rendering Dual or Quad (me has Q6600) will be so mutch faster, and save time

Hi, I am new to the forums. But I have a little experience with computers to say the least. Ryujin invited me over from the Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising forums Here are the Windows 7 requirements. If you want to run Windows 7 on your PC, here's what it takes: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit) 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit) DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver Here is a link to the release client download. www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/get/download.aspxI have been using it for months. By the way, the punkbuster issues have been resolved. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

I've been playing around with 3DS Max 2010 64bit on my Windows 7 set up. I've never had any problems with it.
